And they were all amazed, and they glorified God and were filled with fear, saying, “We have seen strange things today!” (Luke 5:26)
I think it is far too easy to get stuck in the ordinary and lose our passion, our expectancy of God—and thank God He shows up anyway and stirs our hearts and opens the eyes of our faith! Reading through the book of Haggai, we find a people who had grown complacent and apathetic, abandoning God’s work for their own. So the Lord sends the prophet to convict them, to charge them to consider their ways, and to call them to repentance and to return. They were obedient and the prophet encouraged them to be strong and work, for the Lord was STILL with them. A promised blessing came with this obedience, as it does with our own!
So let us, like this people, CONSIDER our ways. Lord give us the wisdom and discernment to see where we are not in agreement with You, and may we turn—that we too may stand amazed, in awe and fear of You, by Who You are and what You have done, and bring glory to Your Holy Name!
Love this, so true!
