Surrender.

Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:13-14)

It can be tempting to look behind us. It is easy to magnify our past mistakes, hurts, pains and wrongs and to then carry them with us—but how about dropping them at the foot of the Cross? How about forgiving that person who wronged you? How about admitting instead of defending? How about forgiving yourself? And how about letting go? Let me tell you, there is tremendous freedom in the surrender. When we yield our hearts, hurts and lives to the only One who can save us, we are free indeed! This freedom carries us forward, eyes looking upon our King in amazing love and this life becomes pale in comparison to what lies ahead! We are not there yet, but every day we get one step closer!
