Broken Vessels.

The Spirit gives to each as He wills—how much more when we leave room, when we are empty.

I had a million plans in my mind and in my heart. I considered each and every one. I offered them up and threw them out there, awaiting the one that would grab attention; the one that would come to fruition.

Do you know not one of them did? No. Not one—and certainly not for lack of trying on my part. I poured my very heart and soul into every possibility, just for a chance. A chance that never got taken, because I was looking to the wrong source for fulfillment.

And so I died a thousand deaths. I cried every tear I had. I anguished. I was utterly defeated and the defeat left me quite literally lifeless—until my God rescued me.

He raised me to life. He shined His light upon my darkness. He flooded me with His love; His love is amazing.

Broken vessels are indeed useful—empty vessels all the more. Refined in the fire and filled with the Spirit, these overlooked, lost and lowly things [being us] are instruments for His glory! How much brighter He shines in those who have nothing left!

“But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.” (2 Corinthians 4:7)
