I remember when I lost my daughter asking a friend how do I give it to God? How do I give Him that pain? How do I let go of it? How do I receive Him? She couldn’t answer my question. Can anyone answer that question?
His Holy Spirit can. Jesus can. The Father can. This mystery is not so mysterious when you are empty and this amazing gift is absolutely free—all it requires is one thing. It requires you to die to yourself.
Stop fighting. Let go of the fear, the failure, the endless searching for empty answers or another man’s opinion. Lay down your life. Stop loving yourself and love Him. You must be empty in order to be filled. Open the door and let him in.
Humility is the key. Confess your sins to Him. Ask Him for His power. Ask Him for His heart, His love, His mercy, His grace. Ask Him at the bottom and He will faithfully fill you to the top—just as He promised.
“I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.” John 10:9
He will knock, but it is you who will have to invite Him in. It is you who will have to walk through the door to life. His love, His gift, is all you will ever need. If you are full of you, though, there is no room for Him. I am praying you will let Him in the door.
