God or self?

But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed.

He will render to each one according to his works: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury. There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek, but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek. For God shows no partiality. (Romans 2:5-11)

Our position among man does not dictate our position before God. Revelation from the Lord should we seek; it is the only way to life. Self-seeking is futile. We are sinners and He is perfect; we are creation and He is the Creator.

True peace and true freedom come from seeking God. Our partiality holds no wisdom. Our opinions are just that—our opinions!

His Spirit is our teacher.

For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified. (Romans 2:13)

Are you a hearer or a doer? That is a choice.

on that day when, according to my gospel, God judges the secrets of men by Christ Jesus. (Romans 2:16)

We can have no secrets before our God.

For no one is a Jew who is merely one outwardly, nor is circumcision outward and physical. But a Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. His praise is not from man but from God. (Romans 2:28-29)
